I k k kea

I know I am probably one of the very last people on Earth to come to  this conclusion but I LOVE Ikea. Until this week I had never actually stepped foot inside one. Oh, I had seen it’s loveliness on blogs and design shows but I had never had the privilege of checking one out for myself until now. All I have to say is yes, please!

There are so many wonderful little goodies to be found there, but my mission this week was nursery furniture. Although this is a shopping mecca, finding baby furniture around here is no easy task. I found one nursery set that I liked but the prices were just a little bit over my budget. $1,200 for a changing table? I don’t think so. I had just about given up when I remembered the Swedish goodness of Ikea. Less than $1,000 bucks later I had a fully furnished nursery (not including the crib.) The best part is that they deliver and assemble it for FREE. Smile

Here are a few pieces I picked up:

Hemnes 8 Drawer Dresser- This will be our changing table/dresser. I’m looking for some cute knobs…

HEMNES Bookcase, white Width: 19 1/4 " Depth: 14 5/8 " Height: 77 1/2 " Max load/shelf: 33 lb Width: 49 cm Depth: 37 cm Height: 197 cm Max load/shelf: 15 kg

I also got a few other furniture pieces as well as tons of frames and little décor items. I’ll share the rest once I get the nursery put together.

Today I’m off to search for a crib.  I found a beautiful white one at the store I mentioned earlier but it’s also $1200 and I just can’t justify spending that much on ONE piece of furniture. I also found a really pretty chocolate colored crib at another baby store but I really want white so the search continues!

I’ve also found tons of new inspiration pictures. I originally planned on doing E’s nursery in pink and brown. Then I changed my mind and decided I would do all pink and gray- kind of like this:

Now- I’m starting to think about adding a little more color. Instead of girly and romantic I’m leaning towards something more whimsical and fun. After getting to know our baby girl it seems like a little bit of whimsy would fit her sweet little personality. I’m still planning on painting the walls gray, but the bedding, curtains and décor will be a bit more colorful. Here are a few nursery inspiration pics that I’m loving.

Project Nursery

Folder of Ideas- This is a big girl’s room but I love the colors and patterns!

Chiccheapnursery.com- I’m definitely doing this gallery wall. This is also what her changing area will look like except we got the dresser instead of the shelving unit.

Chiccheapnursery.com- Easy DIY decorations. Now I just need an E…

Wish me luck on my search for a white crib. Hopefully I’ll find something cute and affordable. Smile

I love Ikea! I'm glad you remembered to check them out. We had one in Baltimore where we used to live but not here in North Myrtle Beach :( I'll remember the free shipping and assembly...that's great! :) I love all your inspirational photos too!

I love IKEA but we have none anywhere close to us :(
that is the fun thing about having to wait to put together her nursery is that you know her personality a little and you can angle it towards her which is so fun!
