My Sweet 3 Month Old

Dear Emerson,
Today you are 3 months old! It’s hard to believe how much you have changed in the last month. Your little personality is really starting to come out and it is so much fun to talk and interact with you.  You have the sweetest smile I have ever seen and it melts my heart every single time. I love waking up in the morning and seeing your little face grinning at me- it seriously makes my whole day. It’s so funny that we were nervous about what life would be like once we had you and now we can’t imagine how we ever got by without you. Sweet baby girl-you are the peanut butter to my jelly, the icing to my cake, the notes to my song… YOU are my EVERYTHING.  While it’s bittersweet to see you getting so big it is also so exciting watch you as you learn and develop. If each month is as good as the last 3 have been, I will be the luckiest girl in the world.
I love you princess!
I know I say this every month but you have grown like a weed over the last few weeks. Your little face is really starting to fill out and most of your wrinkles on your arms and legs are starting to disappear. You are still wearing Size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothes. You can also still wear some of your newborn onesies (like the one in your picture) but they are starting to get short. I think you’re going to be a tall girl. We had to drop off your records at the doctor today so Mommy asked if we could get you weighed and measured.
Your 3 Month Stats:
Length: 23.5 inches- 50th percentile
Weight: 11 pounds 2 ounces- 25th percentile
Head Circumference: 15.5 inches
In one month you grew 2 inches and gained 1 pound. and 8 ounces!
This month:
You have started to smile all of the time. Sometimes you will see me looking at you out of the corner of my eye and you will give me a big grin. Mommy will do anything to make you smile including silly faces and funny noises.  If you’re really excited you will smile extra big and wrinkle your little nose. You also finally laughed out loud for the first time. It was THE sweetest sound I’ve ever heard. You have done it a few times since then and it is the cutest thing!
You took your first airplane ride- first to North Carolina and then halfway across the world. We consider you a seasoned traveler now.
You have really started to notice your hands. You love to put them in and around your mouth. You also love to hold onto things and will usually have a blanket or your outfit scrunched up in your hands. You’ve also started grabbing Mommy’s hair and earrings.
You love to look in the mirror. You go from staring at yourself to staring at Mommy. If you are fussy it is one of the things that will instantly calm you down.
You are a  pro at tummy time now. You can hold yourself up on your elbows forever and you love to look at the flowers and bright colors on your tummy time mat.
You are still a very mellow and laid-back baby. You rarely get fussy unless you are very tired or hungry.  Daddy and I keep saying how lucky we are to have such a sweet and easy baby! That being said, I love to capture your rare meltdowns on camera. Even when you are trying so hard to be mad you usually can’t help but smile.  This picture is from a few nights ago. You were hungry and ready for bed but Mommy made you pose for a picture in your cute hat. You were not a happy camper.
You are still eating every 2.5-3 hours and you usually take a 45 minute to hour long nap after each feeding.  You go to bed between 8:30 and 10:00 and you sleep until 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning. You are still sleeping in the Pack ‘N Play in our room and probably will for awhile even though Mommy is working on your nursery. You are easy to lay down for your morning naps. I usually swaddle you and lay you down with your seahorse and you go right to sleep. You fight your naps in the afternoon even though you really need them!  A few days ago I was rocking you to sleep and just as you were drifting off you looked at me with those beautiful blue eyes and smiled the most darling little smile. It’s a moment that I will never forget.
You have become quite the little talker. You babble and coo all the time. When Daddy and I coo back to you it really excites you and you talk even more.  You are so much fun to be around and I am so thankful that I get to spend my days with you.  I love you with all of my heart my beautiful baby girl!
P.S.- Your book this month is On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman. I couldn’t get a picture of you with it because it didn’t make it here on time. I can’t wait to get it though because you LOVE to be read to and I know it will be another extra special book to add to your collection.
