I Solemnly Swear…

Almost four months after beginning, I finally finished the entire Harry Potter series.  I only get to read when I’m feeding Emerson or right before bed, so it takes me a bit longer to finish books these days. That being said I am so glad that I read the HP books. I always wondered what all the fuss was about and when I saw that the Marine library had the entire set I decided to find out for myself.

Overall I liked the books a lot. I’m usually not into wizard/sci-fi/magic type books but I think the HP books go way beyond that. There are plenty of life lessons to be learned in each book and I definitely have to admit that they often kept me in suspense until the very end.

Now that I finally finished reading the books, Jesse and I have started watching the movies. We’re currently about halfway through the second one and it is getting really good! I can’t wait to finish them all.

I honestly never thought I’d say this, but I’ve been converted. I am, without a doubt, a Harry Potter fan.

But enough about that, the real reason for this post is that I need your help! One of my goals for my 101 in 1001 was to read 50 books. Thanks to HP I have successfully completed that goal. My next book related goal was to read 20 fiction books recommended by blog readers. So, friends, I need YOUR book recommendations and I need as many as I can get just in case I have already read some of the suggestions. If you are interested, you can check out what I’ve already read here. As you can see from my list, I am pretty open to different genres and styles of writing. I am also open to reading more books from series that I’ve started and haven’t finished. I am not opposed to young adult fiction and it definitely doesn’t have to be a new book. Basically, I’ll read just about anything. So, please help a girl out!  I want to know:

What is your all-time favorite, must read book?

I have never gotten into Harry Potter but I might try to read them since so many people love them. I didn't think I'd love the Twilight series but the books were amazing. I love fiction books. I just recently read (for the second time because they're so good) a two-part series by Linda Howard. The first book is called "To Die For" and the second book is called "Drop Dead Gorgeous". They're both really funny, easy reads, murder-mystery, love story book. Let me know if you decide to read them!

I love HP. I read the first book in middle school and bougtht the rest of them as soon as they came out. My mom and I always had a date night when the movies came out and have seen every one of them together. I didn't even want to read the last book because that meant they were done :(
My favortie book of ALL time of Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It's amazing. She also wrote the Mark of The Lion series. I have read those books twice already and want to read them again. Karen Kingsbury an amazing series that has 3 sets. Redemption, Firstborn, and Sunrise. She is an amazing author. Ted Dekker is a great author also.
I'm kind of a book nerd if you couldn't tell :)

LOVE Harry Potter!!! I want to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter so stinkin' bad!

If you liked Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin, Something Blue is also very good. If you liked Karen Kingsbury books, I think you'd like my all time favorite author- Lori Wick. My favorites of her books are The Knight and the Dove, The Princess, and Pretense, but any of her books are great.

Welcome to the HP world ;) I loved the books!

I keep recommending The Little Lady Agency series - it is chic-lit =) The author is British and really funny. I also LOVED The Undomestic Goddess.
I'm going to have to check out your list =)

I loved HP! You make me want to read them all over again. Ok, anything by Karen Kingsbury-I think I've read 10+ books by her in the last few months. I read The Book Thief-very different from what I expected but I liked it. Hurricanes in Paradise by Denise Hildreth Jones is also good. Kristin Billerbeck books are cute, kind of fluffy, but I've liked all the ones I've read so far!

I've never read the HP books either, but everyone seems to love them so maybe I'm missing out on something? Congratulations on reaching your goal of reading 50 books! As for recommendations from others- I always recommend reading Nicholas Sparks books and he has several new ones out that you might not have read yet. Also, I've heard that Emily Giffin books are good and are on my list to get. :) (Something Borrowed, Something Blue, etc)....I also want to read Heaven is For Real. I've heard wonderful things about it!

Love books! Fav authors: Emily Giffin (mentioned), Beth Harbison, Beth Kendrick, Nicola Krause (Nanny Diaries) and one of my fav fav Bridget Asher. You'd probably classify all these as chic-lit... I love easy reads where not much thinking is required. Have fun!
