What We've Been Up To

First I want to say thank you to everyone who left a comment to introduce yourself after my post on Friday! It was so nice to "meet" so many new friends and hear from some old ones. I'm working on responding to you and visiting your blogs. Some of you don't have email addresses tied to your profile so I couldn't respond. If you want to change that so bloggers can respond in the future, use this tutorial.  Thanks again for your kind words. I sure love the blogging community!

Anyway, I thought I'd recap what we've been up to lately.

After spending a week at the lake and 5 days in Houston, we are finally back in West Texas. Emerson did so well with all of the car travel so I was very thankful.

While we were at the lake we headed up to Fort Worth to go to the zoo. It's one of the top 5 zoos in the nation so we were pretty excited.  I couldn't wait for Emerson to see the animals because I knew she would love them.

And she did! The look of joy on her face when she saw the gorillas was the sweetest thing I have ever seen. She is definitely a little animal lover.

It was pretty hot that day so most of the animals weren't very active but we still had a really good time. We will definitely be returning to the zoo any time we get the chance.

Our final weekend at the lake turned into a mini family reunion and it was so nice to see everyone. E had a blast watching all the big kids play. She also had a scary little accident. She fell and hit her face on the corner of the daybed in one of the rooms. It left a little gash near her eye, right on top of the scratch from the straw incident. It was pretty scary but luckily she was fine and it seems to be healing well.

While we were in Houston, Michelle and I did quite a bit of shopping. The malls there are amazing! I also paid my first visit to Plato's Closet. I found some really cute jeans there for a great price. I hope that we have one near our next duty station!  You know I love to hunt for a good deal.

We took the girls along on one of our long outings and they were so good so we let them play in the mall play area. They had a blast and E made a new friend.
This little boy kept following her around and hugging her. She wasn't too thrilled, especially when he pulled her down right after this picture was taken. It was still really cute though!

This weekend we just relaxed, unpacked, and did lots of laundry. Fun times!

I also got a new toy: the Google Nexus 7 tablet. Jesse took the iPad home with him and my Kindle will no longer hold a charge so I've been looking for something to replace it. I didn't really want something as big as the iPad is and I wanted to be able to use it as an E-reader and video player for E on the long trip home. I was stuck between the Kindle Fire and the Nook tablet until I came across the Nexus 7. I did a little bit of research and decided it was exactly what I was looking for. I love it so far!

Well I guess that's enough for now. Check back later this week for a fun giveaway! :)
