A Quiet Weekend

Today is exactly 3 weeks since Jesse had his surgery and I think we are finally settled into our new normal. We've got a pretty good routine down and Jesse is able to get up and around more and more every day. That being said, our weekends aren't really too exciting at the moment. Jesse still isn't up for going out much and I feel bad to leave him home alone for too long. So we've been hanging out at home a lot more than usual and doing our best to keep Emerson entertained. Here's a little bit of what we've been up to:

Jesse had a doctor's appointment. They took out his stitches and staples and gave him a new boot. We also got to see the x-rays of all of the screws and the plate.

During his two hour appointment I did my best to keep Emerson entertained. We had ice cream and she picked out a new purse from a little boutique in the hospital courtyard.

After the long morning, we were all exhausted and took very LONG naps.

Emerson and I did a big grocery run. I always dread these because I'm never quite sure how long Emerson will sit patiently. Luckily she was a complete doll and I was able to get everything on my list. I kept telling her thank you for being such a good listener. When we got home she came straight up the stairs and told Jesse, "I was a good listener, Daddy!"

That afternoon I decided to tackle a sewing project I'd been wanting to try: a toddler skirt. It turned out even better than I expected and I might be slightly obsessed with making them now. I've also made a matching one in newborn size for Adelyn and I am seriously dying over the cuteness. I will share more pictures and links to the tutorials I used in an upcoming post.

Emerson and I both needed to get out of the house so we went to Joann's and Target. I wanted to get more fabric (surprise!) and a few other sewing supplies. I found some adorable fall fabric and what I think will be the main fabric for Adelyn's nursery. It's totally different than what I thought I wanted but I am in love with it! I'm putting together an inspiration post so hopefully I'll post that soon.

We also stopped at Starbucks for coffee and cake pops. E has a little cake pop obsession right now so she was pretty thrilled!

That afternoon E only took a short nap and she had tons of energy! I knew she needed to get outside but we have had record high temperatures this week and it was just so hot. I figured some pool time was in order. Emerson played for about 15 minutes before she seemed to be getting bored. Luckily our neighbors came home right at that moment. E was beyond thrilled to see her best friends! They ran right over and jumped in the pool, clothes and all.

Earlier that day I bought Emerson a scooter off of our neighborhood buy-sell-trade page. I've been wanting to get her one for a while so when I saw this deal, I couldn't resist. It was definitely a good buy because she loves it. It came out during pool time and even got a wash.

I'm so thrilled that Emerson has such great friends right next door!

I can't think of a single thing that we did on Sunday and I don't have any pictures so it must have not been very exciting!!

I spent Monday morning cleaning the house (fun, I know.) I could tell that E was starting to get tired of being cooped up. She really isn't used to being home so much. I was racking my brain trying to think of something to do, but I knew most of the kid friendly stuff was closed.  My neighbor saved the day once again when she invited her over to come swim. She sat up three of the little pools and the girls had a blast playing for hours.
Emerson also discovered a new obsession with goggles.
So, that was our (not so) exciting weekend. I am so thankful for all of the pool time to keep Emerson happy and occupied. We are getting back into her normal activities this week so I'm thinking that will help with the boredom!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Those x rays make me cringe!! But I'm glad he's healing and getting around more. I just love the little skirt you made, I can't wait to see all the rest!
