A Random Update

I've been meaning to sit down all week and do a little update but I just haven't gotten around to it until now. I have so many posts I want to write but I guess I'm just being lazy. I know I better get going because I doubt I'll have as much time for blogging once we have TWO KIDS!!! :)

Anyway, here's a little update bullet style:

-Emerson accompanied me to my doctor's appointment last Friday.  I know bribery isn't the best parenting method but let me tell you- suckers work wonders when you need a 2.5 year old to sit still in a waiting room for 45 minutes. :)

Besides getting a sucker, she loved it because the doctor let her put the doppler on my belly to find the heartbeat. It was really sweet and she was such a proud big sister!

-The three of us went to our first drive in movie on Friday night. The movie wasn't all that great but it will still a lot of fun and way more relaxing than the movie theater. Emerson likes to talk and move a lot so being in the theater stresses me out a little bit. I didn't have to worry about it in the car so it was perfect!

-Our church helped at Family Night at Chick Fil A last night and it was such a blast. Emerson has been dying to meet the cow and she was absolutely thrilled when he made his appearance.
-She also got a balloon crown and her hand painted.

She just had the best time and it was such a great night. I love how the simplest little things make her so happy!

-I was finally successful at making a pair of ruffled pants on my third attempt! I spent three hours on a pair and when I was finished I knew that something wasn't right. The crotch was super short and the legs bowed out. When I put them on Emerson they barely covered her rear. I know it's hard to really tell from this picture but there is something seriously wrong with this pair of pants!

I knew that I had followed the pattern and the direction to the letter. After talking with mom and looking at the pattern over and over I finally figured out that I had sewn them upside down. Basically I made the waist the bottom and the legs the waist. I know it's hard to imagine how that's possible but trust me when I say it was a pretty easy mistake to make.  I was so upset! Not only did I waste three hours but I had only one yard of that precious chevron fabric!! :(

Luckily I have it figured out now and the next pair turned out much better. I see lots of ruffled pants in E's future!
-On Saturday I went to a volunteer meeting at church and E stayed with Jesse. While I was gone he sent me this picture. They turned a cardboard box into a dog house for her doggy, Henry. She doesn't look happy at all, does she?

-Emerson has been pretty obessesed with playing dress up lately! This is pretty much how she is dressed 99 percent of the time we are at home. She even sleeps in this thing most of the time. It's usually a battle to get her to change clothes to leave the house but so far I have been successful. I hit up the Halloween clearance at Wal-Mart and Target the day after Halloween and bought her tons of costumes and accessories to add to her collection. I'm saving it all for Christmas and I can't wait to see her face when she sees it all!

-Other than that I have been cleaning and organizing like crazy. I just feel like the house can't be clean or organized enough! I feel like we still have so much to do before Adelyn's arrival and time is just ticking right by. It's a little overwhelming to think about but hopefully we will get it all done. I'm sure my blogging will probably be sporadic but I'll try to post as often as I can!

I'm still dying over the ruffled pants; they're SO stinking cute. I love that Jesse made her dog a house. She really doesn't look like she loved it at all.

Those pants are adorable! I wish I knew how to sew, but maybe it's a good thing I don't because it would probably take up all my time. Love the pictures of your girl, she just seems so happy all the time.

Those pants are adorable but I am sad for that fabric too. Maybe you could rip out the seams and use it for burp cloths or smaller projects so it's not a total waste. I would love to know what pattern you've been using for them. What great idea to stock up on costumes after Halloween and save for Christmas!

I have been obsessed with ruffled pants for awhile and so desperately want to make them but I'm not a great sewer! What pattern did you use? THey turned out SOOO cute. I'm so sad for you that the chevron ones didn't turn out!

Fun stuff!

Bribery is ok trust me! Especially when you have to wait 45 mins! And I would have upset about the pants too especially since fabric is so expensive not to mention the time you took to do it! My sewing projects take forever!
