New Year, New Goals

With 2016 being a year of transition, I honestly didn't make any really big goals. I was more focused on getting settled, getting this house back in order and making a new life in North Carolina.

Now that we've been back almost a year and we've established a pretty good routine, I think it's time to challenge myself a little bit. I kept my goals pretty simple this year in an effort to give myself a chance to actually meet them. :)

Faith: Read the entire Bible.
I did this a couple of years ago and it was awesome. This year I'm taking a different approach using the plan from The Bible Project. Each day they assign a couple of chapters (starting at the beginning), a Psalm, and most days include a video that breaks down the reading. I have really been enjoying it so far. There's even an app to help you keep track!

Fitness: Work out at least 3 times a week.
I  worked our sporadically in 2016 and I'd really like to get into a real routine this year.

Family: Be present.
I've been thinking a lot about how I want our kids to remember their childhood. I would be devastated to think that when they pictured me, I had my phone in my hand or was too busy cleaning or doing chores to play. So my goal this year is to put the phone down, focus less on chores, and PLAY more with my babies. Before long they aren't going to want me to play with them!

Finances: Track every single dollar spent.
I'd love to get back to strictly following a zero-based budget. In order to do this, we've got to keep track of every expense. It's tedious and it's boring but I'm determined to stick with it this year!

I didn't choose a particular word this year but I did choose a verse that I think is very fitting. It's so easy to get caught up in the little things and to let silly things stress me out. But the truth is, I am so very blessed and I need to act like it! So my verse this year is:

2017, I'm ready for you!!!

These are fabulous goals for 2017, can I join you with working out 3 days a week?? I always feel so much better, and more energized when I work out - but why don't I do it more??

Love the blog :)
