Our Early Christmas

December was a crazy month with getting the house ready to sell, packing, and trying to find somewhere to live. We felt like the month whizzed by and we didn't get to really enjoy the holiday season like we normally do. We decided about a week before Christmas that we wanted to do something special this year so we booked a surprise trip for the girls.

Since we planned to leave early Christmas Eve we decided to celebrate Christmas at home instead of trying to bring all of the presents with us. On Thursday night we wrote a letter to Santa and asked him if he could bring the girls' presents early since we would be out of town. We weren't sure if he would come through but we kept our fingers crossed.

On Friday, we continued what is normally our Christmas Eve tradition and allowed the girls to open one gift. This year it was a special package from Jesse's dad and step-mom. They both have been asking for a Hatchimal (or Patchimal as Ads calls it) forever so they were quite thrilled.

They had so much fun watching them hatch. Of course, I didn't get a decent picture of their hatchimals after they finally came out of their eggs.

That night we let the girls continue with their other tradition of sleeping with their elves the night before Santa comes. I think this is one of the things they look forward to most in December.
On Christmas Eve eve, the girls woke up to a fun surprise. Santa got out message and left some fun gifts! Emerson has been begging for a gymnastics mat and beam. Santa came through with portable ones so she can practice gymnastics anywhere! Adelyn really wanted anything Shimmer and Shine and they both wanted the Our Generation Ice Cream truck.  Luckily, Santa was able to take advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and scored everything on super sale!
After checking out their gifts from Santa, they opened the rest of their gifts. We tried to keep it simple this year and really focus on things that we could do together like Magnatiles, board games and a science experiment kit.  They both asked for Our Generation dolls so that was their main toy.

Both girls got a special necklace from their GG along with spending money from Mimi and Pa and Papa and Nana. They are definitely very lucky girls. :)

We spent the rest of the day hanging out and playing with their new toys. It was such a great day!
